EU Mission: Adaptation to Climate Change
What is the EU Mission?
The Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change focuses on supporting EU regions, cities and local authorities in their efforts to build resilience against the impacts of climate change. Its objective is to accompany at least 150 European regions and communities towards climate resilience by 2030.
Pathways2Resilience contributes to the objectives of the Mission and of the Adaptation Strategy by helping the regions to:
- better understand their climate risks
- develop their pathways to be better prepared and cope with the changing climate
- test and deploy innovative solutions needed to build resilience
What is MIP4ADAPT?
The Mission Implementation Platform (MIP4Adapt) supports European regional and local authorities to prepare and plan their adaptation pathways to climate resilience.
The Mission Implementation Platform (MIP4Adapt) supports European regional and local authorities to prepare and plan their adaptation pathways to climate resilience. MIP4Adapt is facilitating a Community of Practice and delivering technical assistance to enable regions and local authorities to:
- Use their existing climate vulnerability and risk assessments to develop climate adaptation plans and fund and implement climate adaptation solutions
- Identify appropriate climate adaptation demonstration projects and identify and access financial support for their implementation
- Stimulate engagement and mobilisation of citizens and stakeholders in inclusive approaches to climate adaptation.
Mission Projects
Discover a variety of EU-funded projects aimed at advancing climate adaptation efforts. These initiatives offer practical guidance, tools, data, and case studies to support regional and local authorities in achieving the EU Mission on Adaption to Climate Change.
CLIMAAX is an Horizon Europe funded project whose aim is to develop a customized framework and toolbox for climate risk assessment, assisting communities in evaluating past experiences and empowering them to take action.
TransformAr aims to demonstrate solutions and pathways, deemed essential for climate and social resilience to achieve rapid and far-reaching transformational adaptation.
REGILIENCE project works closely with the sister projects ARSINOE , IMPETUS , and TransformAr to enhance the capacity of 7 focus regions to tackle the unavoidable impacts of climate change.
The Regions4Climate (R4C) project addresses the escalating impact of climate change on extreme weather events and aims to build resilient communities and a s ocially-just transition by integrating best practices and innovations.
