About the Event
The Pathways2Resilience (P2R) project, initiated under the Mission Adaptation Europe, is dedicated to supporting regions and communities in developing effective climate change adaptation strategies. With a focus on enhancing technical and financial support, this workshop aims to gather key stakeholders to discuss crucial topics related to financing mechanisms for climate adaptation, with an emphasis on multi-level governance.
France will host the inaugural event of this series, marking a significant step in building a collaborative approach to climate resilience.
The event will be conducted exclusively in French, ensuring a tailored discussion that reflects the unique challenges and opportunities within France.
Key Objectives
- Empower Regions: Position regional authorities as central actors in the fight against climate change by enhancing their capacities and resources.
- Facilitate Dialogue: Create a platform for interaction among stakeholders to share insights, methodologies, and successful practices in climate adaptation.
- Explore Financing: Delve into the various financing mechanisms, funding sources, and strategies necessary for implementing effective climate adaptation initiatives.
- Policy Integration: Discuss how to align climate adaptation strategies with existing policies at local, regional, and national levels.
Agenda
The morning session will feature a plenary organized around three roundtable discussions on the following themes:
- Costs of Action and Inaction: Estimating the funding needs related to climate adaptation.
- Overview of Financing Instruments: Strategies and actors involved in climate financing.
- Integration of Financial Instruments: Exploring the alignment across different levels of territorial governance.
The afternoon will be organized into two segments:
- A one-hour collective workshop on the barriers and drivers of climate financing.
- Sub-commission discussions focused on "innovative" financing modalities implemented by various regions.
